Human Nature star Andrew Tierney has revealed how his struggle with alcohol affected his marriage.
Speaking on the podcast Mental as Anyone with J.Mo, the Aussie singer, 51, said his battle with addiction at one point “almost ruined” his relationship with wife Heather Tierney. The pair have been married since 1999.
“It just got dark because it almost ruined my marriage. That was the darkest, and it hasn’t got dark like that again,” he said.

“I had to win my wife’s trust back, because I was lying to her about drinking … and that was the rough part for me, to have kept it a secret from her again.
“If the shoe was on the other foot, I hope I could be as forgiving as she has been.”
Tierney recalled that at one point, he was refilling empty bottles of alcohol around the house and says he thinks he drove while drunk.

“I’d probably driven a couple of times drunk and … [I’d] fill bottles back up in the house to where they’d look like they were full and stuff like that,” he told host Jonathon Moran.
Tierney says he told his parents he had a drinking problem in 2018.
“I don’t want to wear it as a badge because I feel like it’s not like only my struggle. It’s like so many people are struggling with that particular thing,” he said.
“And so yeah, I still struggle with it.”
“I haven’t had a clean run from the day I stopped drinking to today. You know, I still struggle, not as a raging alcoholic, but just someone who likes to still get a buzz.”
When asked if he was ever an “alcoholic,” the singer said he “didn’t want to wear that label” but had been to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.
“I don’t know. That’s a weird word,” he said.
“I went to Alcoholics Anonymous for a meeting and I kind of sat in there and I thought, ‘So these are people that had basically lost everything’, I suppose.
“I wasn’t at that point in my life. I hadn’t lost everything. I just made some really bad decisions and was day drinking.
“But I didn’t think I was an alcoholic. So I kind of thought maybe I’ve got a problem, but maybe I didn’t want to wear that label. So I don’t know.
“I guess I am. I have a problem with it.”
Andrew and his wife live in Las Vegas and she recently shared a sweet tribute to him in March for their anniversary.
