On Wednesday, March 11, the Golden State Warriors announced that Stephen Curry would miss a further 10 days due to a persistent knee issue. The veteran guard has already been sidelined for the Warriors’ past 15 games. That means, by the time Curry is cleared to return, he would have missed at least 20 consecutive regular-season games.
There is some good news for Warriors fans, however, as according to ESPN’s Anthony Slater, Curry has recently “advanced to court work in recent days, which is a significant step in his attempted return.” Slater also reported that Curry is said to be highly motivated to get back on the court in the near future.
“Team sources have continued to describe Curry as extremely motivated to return for the stretch run and try to work the wobbling Warriors into the playoffs through the play-in bracket. He will intensify court work in the coming days,” Slater reported. “But Curry has described this right knee issue as “unpredictable,” already experiencing setbacks since the issue initially popped up during an individual workout in Minneapolis on Jan. 24.”
Golden State has lost 10 of its 15 games without Curry in the rotation. They could continue to struggle during the upcoming five games he’s expected to miss. At this point in the season, Steve Kerr’s team badly needs to start getting some wins behind them, especially if they want to finish as a seventh or eighth seed to have an easier route through the play-in tournament.

Curry isn’t the only member of the Warriors roster who has missed a stretch of games. As such, the franchise will undoubtedly hope to be back at full strength in the near future. After all, Kerr will need to get everybody back up to speed before the playoffs start, especially if the team still harbors hopes of making a deep run.
