Washington Square Park filled with JFK Jr. lookalikes chasing $250 prize after buzz from Murphy’s TV hit

    NEW YORK CITY:

New York City is notably famous for its lookalike contests from Timothée Chalamet to Harry styles. On March 8, Washington Square Park was swarmed with a sea of JFK Jr. lookalikes trying to out-mog one another. Men showed up in preppy, laid-back fits and impressive hair, hoping to win that $250 cash price.

Inspired by the success of ‘Love Story’, Ryan Murphy’s hit FX show, telling the tale of JFK Jr. and his wife, Carolyn Bassette-Kennedy, many attendees came out to see their celebrity look-alikes in real life.

Taking on the iconic ’90s aesthetic, men were dressed in JFK Jr’s signature looks—from his baseball cap and classic suit-and-tie combinations to his casual streetwear. Women were also seen paired with some of the contestants, dressed in Bassette-Kennedy’s signature style: posh black turtlenecks, blazers, sunglasses, and her iconic hairbands.

According to the New York Post, the crowd ultimately crowned Connecticut native Julian DeVincentis, 31, as the winner. He confidently showed up in one of JFK Jr.’s most recognizable athletic looks: a black tank top, matching shorts, dark sunglasses, a backward hat, and rollerskates. He was accompanied by a friend, whom he jokingly introduced as his publicist of the day.

However, due to logistical issues on the organizers’ part, the event — scheduled to begin at 1pm — wrapped up earlier than expected and many were not able to participate. It was later reported that a March for Liberation rally was taking place nearby at the same time.
