In documents obtained by People Magazine, Maceo’s parents will attend “co-parenting therapy” with a coach to “resolve disputes and conflicts between them in an effort to successfully co-parent”. The pair will first participate in independent sessions with the coach. Afterwards, they will attend no less than six joint sessions.

Berry’s partner, 54-year-old Van Hunt, will also be allowed to attend the joint sessions. After Berry and Martinez’s last session, the coach will determine if they should add additional sessions.

In August of 2023, Berry and Martinez finalized their divorce after almost eight years.

Per their divorce and custody agreement, the Moonfall actress was ordered to pay $8,000 per month in child support to Martinez, in addition to 4.3 percent of all income exceeding $2 million. The actress was also ordered to cover Maceo’s educational expenses, extracurricular activities, and health insurance.

In addition to Maceo, Berry is mom to 16-year-old daughter Nahla Ariela, with whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry.

In 2021, Berry credited her current relationship with helping to make her a better parent. She said in her cover interview with Women’s Health that “I just feel fulfilled. I feel happy in my life romantically, as a mother, as an artist,” she said of her life with Hunt. “I’m a much better mother in this circumstance than I would have been had I stayed in a romantic relationship that didn’t serve me and didn’t make me feel the way I need to feel as a woman.”

She concluded, “I’m reminded that we always have to take care of ourselves first, because I can’t be a good mother for my children if I’m not fundamentally happy and feeling good about myself.”
