LisaRaye McCoy hit the red carpet at the 8th annual American Black Film Festival Honors on February 16 with a very special date: her granddaughter Bella,9.
The actress and her mini companion dazzled on the red carpet, with McCoy wearing a layered white gown with silver detailing while Bella sparkled in a gold sequined top paired with a tulle skirt.
While speaking with Hello Beautiful at the event, Bella shared some of the lessons she has learned from her grandmother.
“Some of the lessons I’ve learned from her include how to cook and bake. She’s basically taught me everything that I know now. She even taught me how to look good on the red carpet and everything,” she said.

McCoy, for her part, said becoming a grandmother has shifted her perspective.
“This is it right here. I’m working for legacy now. Even when I hear interviews that I did a long time ago, this feels different. This level is different. Just looking at her and knowing that I have to be an example for her in the house before she goes outside the house is a privilege to me. It’s absolutely an honor. That’s my number one job.”
Red carpet appearances have become something of a tradition for the pair. McCoy often brings Bella along to events, and this year’s American Black Film Festival Honors was no exception.
The actress later shared video from the evening on Instagram, showing Bella walking the carpet.
“This is becoming our thing, 6 years in a row now. Last night me & My grandbaby attended the American Black Film Festival Honors. Watching her blossom on Red Carpet after Red Carpet truly melts my heart,” she wrote, tagging the festival and its founders Nicole and Jeff Friday along with the hashtags #liferocks, #abffhonors and #blackhistory.
McCoy has one daughter Kai Morae, who welcomed Bella in 2017.
