Shia LaBeouf just can’t stay out of trouble. In light if his recent arrest in New Orleans, we couldn’t help but be reminded of his Austin, Texas troubles.
First off, let’s recap his recent arrest. The 39-year-old actor was arrested on February 17, 2026 during Mardi Gras festivities. The altercation happened outside a business on Royal Street in the French Quarter. Police say he became aggressive, was asked to leave, and allegedly punched two men — one several times and another in the nose. He was charged with two counts of simple battery.
According to reports, he was allegedly hurling homophobic slurs before the arrest.
Hours after his release, he was seen on Bourbon Street celebrating and even holding his release paperwork in his mouth. As for a statement, he tweeted just two word: Free me.
Trouble in Austin
Back in 2015, LaBeouf was first arrested for public intoxication on Sixth Street in Austin during ACL. A witness says he was either extremely drunk or high on drugs when he ran down the street and jaywalked in front of police. They warned him not to do it but he continued, acting bizarrely.
A little over a year later, locals say the Emmy winner caused another scene during a Warpaint show at Emo’s on November 17, 2016. He was in town for a screening of his post-apocalyptic drama Man Down.
According to a Reddit thread, LaBeouf sexually harassed at least two girls – pushing himself in between one girl’s legs and then circling another while making lewd comments and gestures. After the band and a few members of the crowd intervened, he was ejected from the club, but showed no further aggression.
It’s clear that LaBeouf has been struggling with substance abuse and aggression for years. He’s also been arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication in NYC and Savannah, Georgia, It’s been reported that he has sought treatment multiple times. Hopefully, this latest altercation is a wake up call for the award-winning actor.
