After almost 20 years together, Will and Jada secretly separated in 2016. They married in 1997 and share a blended family that includes their son Jaden, 27, their daughter Willow, 25, and Will’s son Trey Smith, 33, from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino.
The separation became public in 2023 when Jada confirmed — after years of speculation and headlines about their relationship — that they were living “completely separate lives.” She explained that they never divorced because they made a promise to work through anything together. “I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise,” she told Hoda Kotb.
“We love our family. And we love each other,” Jada continued, before describing their relationship as “more of a life partnership” than a traditional marriage.
Recently, though, fans wondered about a possible reconciliation after they were spotted out in Paris. They were there supporting Jaden’s Paris Fashion Week show for Christian Louboutin, where he serves as men’s creative director, and were even seen holding hands at one point.
But a source told Entertainment Tonight that Will and Jada are still living apart.
“They are getting along,” the source said, adding that “having this time actually helped their relationship.”
The source also said that while they may not be romantically together, “[Will] always tells Jada and the kids that no matter what the status of their marriage is their family will always be number one.”
Reps for Will and Jada didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment, but a source told People of the Paris outing, “They were all about this amazing, united family front to support Jaden and enjoy Fashion Week.”
