Auburn baseball is aiming for a return to Omaha and the College World Series this season, and one of its top run producers from last season is set to lead the charge.
Perfect Game recently revealed its rankings of the top 100 seniors in college baseball ahead of the 2025 season, and listed Auburn’s Lucas Steele at No. 19. Steele is one of 11 SEC players ranked in the top 20 of this season’s list.

Lucas Steele was a bright spot in the Tigers’ lineup last season, his first as a transfer from Samford. Steele started 44 games last season, 42 at designated hitter and two at catcher. In 46 games total, Steele hit .270 with nine home runs and 45 RBI. He was fourth on the team in home runs and RBI, trailing only Ike Irish, Cooper McMurray, and Chris Rembert in those categories. Steele also reached career-lows in strikeouts (36) and walks (30).
Steele returns to a stacked Auburn lineup that features key returners, including Chris Rembert, Chase Fralick, and Bub Terrell. Seven of Auburn’s top 10 batters from last season are set to return for 2026, and bring a combined 40 home runs with them.
Steele and the Auburn Tigers return to action on Friday, Feb. 13, when it begins a three-game series at Plainsman Park against Youngstown State. Game times and TV coverage details will be announced at a later date.
