Musician and actor Matt Cardle is joining the cast of Kinky Boots when it arrives at the London Coliseum this spring.
The performer, who released a new song called ‘Fading Lights’ this week, will be taking on the role of Charlie Price, alongside Strictly Come Dancing icon Johannes Radebe who will be reprising the role of Lola, which he played on tour. Matt has made a name for himself in the theatre world over the years, with roles in Memphis, Jesus Christ Superstar, and &Juliet UK tour.
Speaking about taking on this role, Matt said: “I am absolutely over the moon to be joining the cast of Kinky Boots on London’s biggest stage. Theatre has been a huge part of my career so far, and leading a cast alongside Johannes Radebe at the London Coliseum is a huge honour. Kinky Boots is a show I’ve loved for years so to get the opportunity to step into the role of Charlie Price is a dream come true. Bringing this iconic role to life in the West End is an incredible privilege, and I cannot wait to share this production with audiences.”
West End sensation Tosh Wanogho-Maud, whose credits include Titanique, Ain’t Too Proud, Dreamgirls, and the Palladium Panto, also joins the cast as Alternate Lola. He is currently starring as Lola in the European leg of the touring production and will play the role of Lola on all Monday performances from 6 April 2026. Head to the London Coliseum website for more information.
Based on the 2005 film with a book by Harvey Fierstein and a score by Cyndi Lauper, Kinky Boots tells the story of a struggling shoe factory owner called Charlie Price. He teams up with larger-than-life drag queen Lola to try and save the business.
Kinky Boots will run in London from March 17 to July 11, 2026, with a week of previews at Curve, Leicester from March 3, 2026.
