We’re just two weeks into 2026, and we’ve already witnessed some shocking celebrity break-ups.
Last year came the breakup of longtime couples including Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, and it seems this year will bring even more splits no one saw coming.
While none have been as shocking as the Kidman-Urban split so far, one has come close.
Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer
Amy Schumer and her husband Chris Fischer filed for divorce on January 6 after seven years of marriage.
The actress and comedian announced the split at the end of 2025, with the pair finalising it by filing divorce papers in early January.
Schumer announced the split in the caption of a now-deleted Instagram post accompanied by a photo of them sitting side-by-side on the train.

“Blah blah blah,” the post starts.
“Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years.
“We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time.”
The post went on to make light of the situation, addressing recent rumours the pair had split because the Trainwreck actress had “gotten skinny.”
“blah blah blah not (because) I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag a basket and not because he’s a hot Janlmes beard award-winning chef who can still pull some hot tail,” the post continues.
“Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”
Ali Wong and Bill Hader
Actor Bill Hader and comedian Ali Wong announced their split on January 7 after dating for more than two years.
The pair cited busy schedules as the reason, saying it was hard to balance their relationship with Wong’s upcoming stand-up tour and Hader’s various film projects.
Wong and Hader started dating in 2022 after Wong separated from her husband of eight years, Justin Hakuta.
Wong and Hader broke up briefly in December 2022 before getting back together again in April the following year.
The pair went public after they were photographed together at Wong’s 41st birthday party.
Lachie and Jules Neale
The most shocking split of this year so far is the bombshell that struck the AFL.
At the end of December, Jules Neale, the wife of Brisbane Lions star Lachie Neale, revealed via Instagram that she and her husband “were not working through anything” and she had “been betrayed in the most unimaginable way.”
The statement came after rumours the pair enduring a rough patch after Jules unfollowed her husband on Instagram.
The split was not confirmed until January 2, when Lachie held a press conference at the Brisbane Lions headquarters, addressing the reports and apologising for his actions – although he didn’t confirm what caused the relationship breakdown.
He also stepped down as co-captain of the club during the conference.
The nature of Jules’ statement led to suspicions Lachie had cheated, although that has not been confirmed.
Media reports suggest the athlete has moved out of the family home.
