‘I felt so dumb’: Kristin Davis reveals the truth behind this photograph of her and Tom Cruise and Sex and the City castmates at Golden Globes 2004

Kristin Davis has revealed the hilarious moment she failed to recognise one of the world’s most famous men.

The Sex and the City alum, 60, was left red-faced when she attended the Golden Globes in 2004 with her castmates and they bumped into Tom Cruise on the red carpet.

But for Davis, who plays Charlotte York Goldenblatt on the iconic show, she hilariously didn’t recognise Cruise at first.

Speaking to People, the actress said her and her castmates were trying to get a group shot together and she failed to recognise Cruise without his long hair from his 2003 The Last Samurai film.

She thought Cruise was “some dude” at first.

“I’m hurrying down the press line to join the other three, and I see that they’re talking to some dude,” she said.

“I’m like, ‘Why is there a guy in my spot?'”

When she saw his face, she instantly knew it was the Hollywood megastar and said she told him she didn’t recognise him at first. Luckily, he wasn’t offended.

”I felt so dumb, but he was so incredibly nice. And then we all took pictures and he told us all how much he loved the show, so it was great.”

It was recently announced that the Sex and The City spin-off, And Just Like That… was coming to an end after three seasons.

The series, a continuation and look into the lives of New York’s most eligible women and best friends, Carrie, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York, was a little controversial from the get-go, in part thanks to Kim Cattrall’s (Samantha Jones) noticeable absence besides from a cameo or two.

More recently, Davis has started a podcast called Are You A Charlotte? and previously revealed a dating mistake that cost her thousands.

Davis recalled the time she was once ghosted by an “out of work” actor she was seeing, who is now a big star, after she loaned him $US5,000 (approx. $7,900).

She said she felt sorry for the man as he was getting bill notices, but called the money lending a ”horrible mistake”.

“Anyone listening, do not lend anyone money that you are dating. Do not do it! It doesn’t end well.

”I lent him this money, I think it was all of $5,000… and he stopped calling. I’m like, ‘What the heck!?'”
