Black clothes may be everyone’s favourite, yet nothing ruins them faster than those stubborn white marks that refuse to disappear, no matter how often you wash them. But here’s the good news: a simple, clever home remedy can make those irritating stains vanish for good.

Black clothes often show stains more prominently, but a few simple home remedies can help restore their appearance. To remove marks, you can use white vinegar by mixing one cup of vinegar with half a cup of water. Dip a soft cloth into the solution, gently rub the stained area, leave it for a few minutes, and then wash the garment in cold water.

Baking soda is also effective. Combine one tablespoon of baking soda with a little water to form a thick paste. Apply it directly to the white stains, wait for two minutes, then scrub lightly with an old toothbrush. Leave it on for 15–20 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with cold water and patting the fabric dry.

A mixture of lemon juice and water can help too. Soak a sponge or cloth in the solution and gently rub the stain. However, never dry these clothes in sunlight, as lemon juice can act as a bleaching agent. Rinse with clean water and dry only in the shade.

Another easy trick is to place a small piece of aluminium foil in the washing machine along with detergent. It helps remove lint and any excess detergent clinging to the fabric. You can also use this method while washing clothes by hand.

Black garments should always be washed in lukewarm water. Hot water can weaken the fibres and cause fading.

Likewise, avoid direct sunlight when drying black clothes; shade drying preserves the colour for longer.

Lastly, always check the care label before washing. Some fabrics are delicate and may lose colour if washed incorrectly. Following the recommended temperature and detergent advice will help maintain both the look and the longevity of your clothes.
