Diane Keaton’s battle with bulimia comes to light after her death

Diane Keaton once made a heart-wrenching confession about bulimia that has now come to light after her death.

For those unaware, Keaton passed away due to bacterial pneumonia at the age of 79 on October 11, 2025 in Los Angeles, United States. In addition to pneumonia, she also suffered from genetically inherited dementia in her final months but chose to keep her struggle private.

Now Radar Online reported that the acclaimed American actress had an eating disorder and during a 2014 book tour for her autobiography Let’s Just Say It Wasn’t Pretty, her team requested Hollywood producers to not inquire about her eating disorder.

An insider told the outlet, “But Diane had other ideas. She didn’t want to be the quirky, hat-wearing Diane everyone expected. She wanted to talk about what really mattered. She quietly asked the producer, ‘Can we please talk about this? No one ever lets me.'”

Keaton then went on to get honest about her battle with bulimia.

She said at that time, “People were nice enough but I felt like an outsider. I had a problem – it was sick and creepy. Bulimia takes a lot of time out of your day.”

The source claimed that Keaton was not only “radiant that day,” she was “vulnerable, brave and completely herself.”
