1. Soak the aliv seeds
Start by soaking the aliv seeds in warm water for at least 2–3 hours.
Aliv seeds swell up beautifully and turn gelatinous when soaked, this step is crucial because it activates the nutrients and makes them easier to digest.
2. Roast the nuts
In a pan, heat 2–3 tablespoons of ghee and lightly roast the almonds and cashews.
You don’t want them to turn too dark, just a nice golden colour.
This gives your ladoos crunch and an added dose of healthy fats for hair.
3. Add coconut
Add the grated coconut to the same pan and roast until fragrant.
Coconut is amazing for hair health because it strengthens roots from within.
4. Melt the jaggery
In another pan, add a little water (just 2–3 tablespoons) and melt the jaggery until it becomes syrupy.
Jaggery is a natural iron booster and iron is one of the main minerals responsible for strong, thick hair.
5. Mix everything together
Once the jaggery syrup is ready, add:
the soaked aliv seeds
roasted nuts
roasted coconut
a spoon of ghee (optional but recommended)
cardamom powder
Mix everything well until it becomes a thick, sticky mixture.
6. Prepare the ladoos
Let the mixture cool slightly so it’s warm (not hot).
Grease your palms with a bit of ghee and roll the mixture into small ladoos.
You should get around 12–15 ladoos, depending on size.
7. Store correctly
Store the ladoos in an airtight container.
They last up to 2 weeks easily, longer if refrigerated.
