Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn have hit the scales ahead of their middleweight rematch at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London, tomorrow evening.
Prior to their first encounter, which saw Eubank claim a unanimous decision victory in April, many voiced their concerns with the Brighton man’s weight-making capabilities.
In other words, it was widely believed that his body is no longer designed to meet 160lbs, a weight which Benn, who has previously fought at 147lbs, ultimately had no issues with.
Eubank, on the other hand, was forced to pay his rival a sum of £375,000 after he recorded a weight of 160.05lbs ahead of their all-action showdown.
But this time around, Ring Magazine has confirmed that Eubank, having boiled his shredded frame down to 159.1 lbs, is at no risk of paying a hefty fine. In fact, he has come in slightly heavier than Benn, who has increased to 159.3lbs after weighing in at 156.5lbs on the day before their first fight. The pair will face off at the ceremonial weigh in later today when those numbers will be confirmed.
It is hardly surprising that 29-year-old Benn has kept to his end of the bargain. Now, all eyes turn to the 10lbs rehydration clause weigh in tomorrow morning ahead of fight night.
The first time around, Eubank came in at 169.4lbs but, after outpointing Benn, he eventually ended up at the Royal London Hospital with severe dehydration. Now, at the age of 36, it remains to be seen whether the former world champion will avoid the same worrisome outcome.
As for Benn, who came in at 165lbs at their original second-day weigh-in, there is almost no chance of him exceeding the 170lbs limit this time around, either.
