    Gastroenterologist Dr Shubham Vatsya says the best breakfast for losing weight is curd with chia or basil seeds.

Gastroenterologist Dr Shubham Vatsya recently shared on Instagram a simple but effective morning routine that could revolutionise weight management efforts: a breakfast consisting of curd and either chia or basil seeds. The doctor claims that this combination helps manage appetite and lower total calorie consumption while also improving intestinal health.

    “You have a problem with weight loss; you have a problem of feeling hungry,” Dr Vatsya said in the video, adding, “Your life will change if you eat chia seeds or basil seeds with curd for your first meal.”

    Why This Breakfast Works

    According to the doctor, curd supports a normal gut microbiota and helps with digestion by acting as a natural source of probiotics. Probiotics are good bacteria that boost metabolism and improve food absorption, all of which are essential to maintain a healthy weight.

    Meanwhile, dietary fibre from chia and basil seeds slows digestion and prolongs feelings of fullness. Dr Vatsya said that the combination “gives you satiety for the whole day” and that “chia seeds are giving you fibre in a very condensed form.”

    According to Dr Vatsya, consuming this combination every day for around a month may result in noticeable changes. “If you take this food for 30 days, you will genuinely see that you stay full for at least four hours,” he said in the video. As a result, portion sizes and cravings for high-calorie breakfasts like fried snacks or parathas naturally reduce over time.

    Dr Vatsya underlined that it is a sustainable approach for losing weight that enhances gut health and controls hunger signals rather than being a fad diet.

    “Your genuine calorie load starts to decrease by the day… You may have stopped eating the parathas you used to eat for breakfast,” he said.
