Jeremy Allen White opened up about feeling the pressure of playing Bruce Springsteen in the upcoming biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere.
The Emmy-winning actor admitted that stepping into the shoes of such an iconic musician came with nerves, especially since Springsteen himself was around during the first week of filming.
Talking to Austin Butler for Interview Magazine, White said, “That first week was particularly jittery for me. Bruce was around, and I talked to him at the end of the week.
I was like, ‘If I could just have a little bit of space to try and find my footing.’”
He shared that Springsteen was very understanding and gave him the time he needed. “He was like, ‘I totally understand. Not a problem,’” he recalled.
“He was gone for two days, and then he came back and said, ‘How was that space?’”
After getting over his nerves, The Iron Claw actor said the music legend became a strong source of encouragement.
Springsteen often checked in on him with messages that helped him feel more confident. “He would text me at night, giving feedback or support. It helped me sleep at night.”
Deliver Me From Nowhere, directed by Scott Cooper, tells the story behind Springsteen’s 1982 album Nebraska, diving into his emotional and creative process.
For the unversed, the film is set to release on October 24, 2025.
