Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton and quarterback Bo Nix went viral last season after Fox cameras caught them having a heated exchange on the sideline during a game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Nix had flipped a play that Payton did not want flipped, and the coach quipped after the game that his quarterback has “a little bit of Ferris Bueller” in him. There was no harm done as Denver went on to win 34-18.
Payton and Nix had another chat during Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, and this one was not nearly as heated as last year’s incident. It still went viral on social media.
The official Twitter/X page for the NFL on CBS has more than 1.3 million views on its video, and countless other accounts have also uploaded the video, which received additional views.
The exchange happened near the end of the third quarter after Nix failed to connect with tight end Evan Engram on a 3rd-and-4 play at Indy’s 45-yard line. Unlike last year’s dustup, the Broncos went on to lose, 29-28.
