One week into the NFL regular season, many Pittsburgh Steelers fans are still clamoring for the team to make a trade for Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. This is despite the Steelers quarterback throwing for four touchdowns to four different players and wide receivers DK Metcalf and Calvin Austin III each catching four passes and Austin hauling in one of those four touchdowns.
However, for as much as the fans want Hill on the team, Steelers beat writer Gerry Dulac says the team is showing no real interest in Hill or any other wide receiver. This isn’t to say Dulac is the final source on any of this, as he was dead certain the Steelers weren’t trading for cornerback Jalen Ramsey either, but we tend to agree with him here.
If you watched last week’s game, despite the 34-32 win and think wide receiver is the Steelers’ biggest problem, we might have watched different games. Austin gave the Steelers passing game all it needed and the combination of tight ends Pat Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith both have a place in this offense. If the Steelers want to spend money and draft capital on a player, let it be someone to help on the offensive or defensive line.
