Former US Dancing With The Stars professional dancer Cheryl Burke has issued an apology after posting an untimely video amid headlines of a school shooting.
Burke, 41, shared a long statement on Instagram, apologising for her actions, in a post shared with her more than 737,000 followers.
The American star revealed she had ”posted a transition video that included the sound of a gun,” but hadn’t heard the news of the Minneapolis Catholic school shooting that reportedly left two children dead and 17 people injured.

“I want to take a moment to acknowledge something very important. Less than an hour ago, I posted a transition video that included the sound of a gun,” she wrote in her post.
“At the time, I was completely unaware of the horrific school shooting that took place today in Minneapolis at a Catholic school. Out of respect for the lives impacted, I have already taken that post down.”
Burke went on to say she was “deeply sorry” for her post and added: “I take full responsibility for what I put out into the world, and this is a reminder for me to always pause, reflect, and be more mindful of timing and impact.”

“My heart and prayers are with the victims, their families and the entire community mourning this unimaginable loss.”
She added that she was “holding herself accountable”.
“Apology not needed, but deeply appreciated by many I’m sure <3,” one follower commented underneath the post.
Another added: “❤️ You were unaware of the tragedy when you posted. It could have happened to any of us. Please do not feel guilty for the post. We love you Cheryl!❤️”

Burke reportedly left US Dancing With The Stars in 2022 after 26 seasons.
Earlier this year, in July, she marked seven years of sobriety.
“I used to believe alcohol gave me confidence, connection, and control.Turns out, it stole those things quietly — day by day — until I couldn’t recognise my own reflection,” she said in one post.
The horrific school shooting took place on Wednesday during a mass at a church at Minneapolis’ Annunciation Catholic School, before the shooter committed suicide, according to reports.
