Sixth-year senior Bryson Estes, who has been a reserve offensive guard for most of his Florida State career before working at tight end this preseason, is no longer on the Seminoles’ roster.
Estes signed with FSU as a three-start prospect in the Class of 2020 and chose the Seminoles after receiving offers from Nebraska, Penn State and others. But he seldom saw the field during his first five seasons in Tallahassee.
Estes was eligible for a sixth year because the 2020 season didn’t count against eligibility due to the COVID pandemic, and then he took a redshirt in 2021.
According to Pro Football Focus, Estes appeared at offensive guard in three Florida State games during the 2024 season and in six games in 2023. Then he dropped about 15 pounds this off-season and was working at tight end to help out as a blocker in short-yardage situations.
But with two days remaining before the season opener against Alabama, his name has been removed from the Florida State roster.
