Caitlin Clark’s Face After Lexie Hull Three in Fever-Sky Says a Lot originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Caitlin Clark has taken the role of a cheerleader for the Indiana Fever amid her 10-game injury layoff. This was the case again for the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year on Saturday as she watched her team from the bench in their rivalry clash against the Chicago Sky at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Lexie Hull got the nod to start after the Fever lost both Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson to season-ending injuries. Hull has been struggling mightily with her shot of late, going just 1-of-18 from three-point territory in her last five games. Head coach Stephanie White did not have too many options available, though, which led to Hull’s return to the starting lineup.
Hull responded by knocking down her first attempt from deep late in the first quarter. The 6-foot-1 guard found herself wide open from three-point territory, and she made sure not to miss.
Clark’s reaction from the bench was a mix of joy, excitement and relief. She had a huge smile on her face, which just goes to show how happy she was for her Fever teammate and good friend.

Hull’s recent slump does not take away from the fact that she remains one of the best shooters on the Fever roster. Clark and the rest of the squad are very much aware of this fact, and they have been supporting Hull amid her shooting struggles, knowing full well that her shot will eventually fall.
Clark’s facial expression and her reaction to Hull finally making a trey says a lot in terms of how much she’s getting behind her Fever teammate.
Hull will need to keep it going in this game and beyond as she takes on a bigger role amid the Fever’s injury crisis.
