PCB pulls out of future World Championship of Legends over alleged biased conduct

    -

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced its decision to withdraw from future editions of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), citing “double standards and politically driven behavior” by the tournament organizers.

The decision was made during a Board of Governors meeting chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, where the board voiced strong disappointment over the tournament’s inconsistent policies and apparent favoritism.

The PCB criticized the WCL for awarding points to a team that deliberately forfeited a match, calling it a serious blow to the competition’s credibility.

Furthermore, the board condemned a WCL press release issued after the cancellation of the Pakistan-India legends match, describing it as biased and politically motivated.

ā€œThe championship’s purpose was compromised by political influence,ā€ the PCB noted. ā€œThe press release was nothing short of a manifestation of prejudice.ā€

The PCB reiterated its stance that sports should remain free from political interference and emphasized its commitment to maintaining the sanctity of the game.

It described the tournament’s handling of rules and regulations as being influenced by ā€œinvisible pressures,ā€ calling the behavior of the organizers ā€œbiased and concerning for the future.ā€

ā€œThe WCL’s subsequent apology appeared to be issued under the pressure of a particular form of nationalism,ā€ the statement added, calling such double standards unacceptable in international sports.

As a result, the PCB has formally decided not to send its team to future editions of the WCL, stating it will not take part in any event that has been politically compromised.
