Down from the Caviar & Wings Podcast, the latest clip gave rise to a discussion about what transpires when there’s only one first-class ticket remaining and two people travel as a couple. The debate immediately began in comment sections, and people went to the extremes of opinion.

In the clip, Ja Rule and the hosts discussed just how weird the situation can be for a brand-new couple. One host suggested that maybe it’d be a good idea to split the time, with five hours in first class each. The real-world question is, who really gets to sit in first class? The internet had a lot to say about that.
One user chimed in on another brave chivalry. He said his family faced that once: He and his son went to coach, and his wife and daughter got first class. Another lady said her husband always upgrades her for the simple reason that gentlemen do that. A few others allegedly disagreed. The 6’5″ guy offered a bold take: “I paid for the tickets, that’s a no-brainer—get ya ass in the back lol.”
Then came the realist approach. One comment mentioned the person who paid ought to hold sway, which spiraled into back-and-forths where one joked, “Chivalry is dead… and women killed it.” Another put an end to that by saying, “I want the first-class seat regardless of who purchased the tickets.” Fair enough.
Height work its way into the debate. One woman insisted that her 6’4″ boyfriend went first because she was only 5’1″; another said “Mine is 6’8″, and I’m 5’2″—he needs the legroom.” But the realest one? “Either we both in first class or we both in coach.”
The other extreme? One woman insisted that if her man took first class and left her in coach, she’d just catch another flight; another joked that if she got the upgrade, she’d send drinks back to coach—but she’d never give up the seat.
At that point, things got philosophical. One described how women hate the word “broad,” as used by Ja Rule in the clip, while another said that if she really meant something to you, she’s sitting in first class.
So yeah: There really is no concrete answer on the matter. Some go with comfort; others go with fairness; others will simply not separate. One thing is for sure, though: if ever this happens to you, you better pick well… or it’s going to be a long, long, uncomfortable ride back.
