Welcome to the 2025 NHL Draft!
The NHL offseason is in sight now that the Stanley Cup has been awarded, but more excitement awaits hockey fans before the long dregs of summer at the 2025 NHL Draft. This year, the New York Islanders hold the No. 1 overall pick and will likely draft defenseman Matthew Schaefer out of the OHL with the top selection to kick the night off.
As is customary in the NHL, the lead-up to the draft saw some movement between teams in preparation for the event. The Philadelphia Flyers acquired Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks in a hopeful change of scenery for the young player. J.J. Peterka is now a member of the Utah Mammoth after a trade from Buffalo. Rumors abound as to where Mitch Marner will end up in free agency as well, as teams look to clear off cap space ahead of the forward’s big summer splash.
With the first round of the 2025 NHL Draft about to kick off, here are the full list of picks made on Friday night, with analysis and grades as well!
