The birthday tribute from Hillary to Donald Trump was indeed a mixed bag and caused the simultaneous celebration and backlash. On the birthday message for Trump (created by Sanders), Trump was called “everyone’s favorite president,” and because it was Flag Day, she was seen standing there with the American flag. The clip showed Sanders smiling while calling Trump great and saying Arkansas was so lucky to have him. But the internet… had its opinions.

Reaction waves of two sides parted in at once flooding the aptly scheduled parade for Washington D.C. Some echoed Sanders with words of encouragement. One user exclaimed, “Happy birthday my dear friend Mr. Donald Trump,” coupled with a bouquet of flower emojis. Another seemed to concur: “America loves you, Governor Sanders! Stay strong, stay wise, stay safe!” with flag symbols and heart emojis. Those few warm wishes were then drowned in a tidal wave of sarcasm and outright hostility.

One clapped back, saying, “Ugly-ass inbred Miss Piggy supporting another ugly-ass inbred male version of Miss Piggy,” very derogatory about the appearances of both Sanders and Trump. Another variant considered it simply: “Delusional to claim the Tyrant as ‘everyone’s favorite President’ for anyone outside the cult he is far from it.” Ouch. Some did not find the expression “everyone’s favorite” acceptable. For example, someone commented sarcastically, “‘Everyone’s’ 😂 not even majority.”
Religion jumped at a chance: Another person quoted Psalm 25:5: “I hate the assembly of evildoers, and I will not sit with the wicked,” definitely pointing at Trump vis-a-vis the whole Vladimir Putin association. Meanwhile, another one opted for a more larrikin style: “Lol, your orange daddy left you on read when your state needed that disaster money.”
The weirdest response? Somebody randomly asked Sanders if she’d “closed down the whore house in downtown Hot Springs yet.” No context given. Just vibes.
A staunch supporter of Trump since his White House days, Sanders paid no heed to the negative comments and instead commenced her doublespeak: She talked about the effects Trump has had on Arkansas. Whether that’s true or not is up for grabs. But one thing the Internet made sure of is that this birthday wish came in an ugly mess.
And don’t forget that other proposal to run for governor of New York. Because there apparently isn’t enough drama in Arkansas.

What did we learn? Wishing Trump happy birthday is never merely a simple greeting. It is truly a political grenade, with Sanders graciously smiling away as she pulled the pin. He still dominates the conversations, and these birthday wishes supported by Sanders only cemented that fact.
