Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has gone viral following an impassioned birthday greeting to the former president of the USA, calling him supreme among American presidents. Along with the happy birthday greeting was a picture of her and Trump smiling while Boebert slightly leaned toward the former president.

The birthday wish became instant bait for countless attacks, with hundreds of users inquiring over Boebert’s praise of the Trump presidency: “No, he’s not the greatest president of all time. Most put him as the worst or at least in the bottom 5.” One sarcastically wondered whether Boebert had in mind leaders such as Kim Jong Un or Fidel Castro with her praise.
Some comments referred to Boebert’s more execrable public exploits, including the drama-filled adventures from last year of her attending the Beetlejuice musical. “Well we know she owns no DVDs because she has to go see Beetlejuice in the theaters,” one joker said sarcastically. Other comments hinted at the relation between Boebert and Trump when an individual wrote, “She must have just gotten off her knees.”
Such criticism, however, was much more than just personal attacks. There were focus points on policies, one comment saying, “Legacy is cooked. WW3, super surveillance AI state, swamp more powerful than ever.” Another, “To the person who called soldiers killed in war or captured ‘losers.’ Some patriot.”
A small handful of supporters backed Boebert’s statement, with one commenting, “The best president ever!” followed by cheering emojis. And yet, these affirming voices were drowned out by far more criticisms.
The bitter debate denotes an intense polarization regarding Trump’s legacy as he gears up for yet another presidential run. Boebert is an eager Trump sycophant with ultra-Right views that consequently garner heated criticism for her staunch support of the former President.
Some commentators contend that posts like this one lead to further fraternization of Boebert with the Trump base, especially as she faces what many consider to be a very tough reelection fight in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District-a seat now very competitive in contrast to before. The controversial congresswoman now has to double down on her conservative repositioning while simultaneously fighting additional media arising from recent personal controversies.
The birthday outbreak could not have come at a better time for Trump, who will soon be eyeing a general election run against President Joe Biden, and the polls indicate a tight race between the two with much of the Republican base still side with their indicted elder statesman.

Such loyalty from Trump allies like Boebert will grace the 2024 primaries with much criticism then roaring from those who consider the ex-president a mortal threat to democracy. These contrasting reactions to an ordinary birthday greeting indicate that Trump is still probably one of the most galvanizing leaders American politics can produce, capable of inspiring equally massive amounts of devotion and disdain.
