Blake Lively, iconic star who is best known for her role in Gossip Girl and recent hit Another Simple Favor, is now said to be stepping into the spotlight in a whole new way.
The actress is preparing to testify under oath in the ongoing legal battle against her It Ends with Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni.
The courtroom drama is heating up more, and the The Shallows actress’ testimony is expected to be a major turning point.
Lively’s lawyer, Mike Gottlieb confirmed in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE that the actress will take the stand in the upcoming trial against her co-star Baldoni.
“Yes,” Gottlieb revealed when he was asked if his client will testify.
“The ultimate moment for a plaintiff’s story to be told is at trial. We expect that to be the case here [with Lively]. So we would, of course, expect her to be a witness at her trial. Of course she’s going to testify,” he shared.
Rumours about the actress’ role in the trial really heated up after her speech at the TIME100 Gala in late April. Before opening up onstage about how her mother survived an attack by a “work acquaintance who attempted to take her life” before Lively was born, the star hinted at the case, saying there was “so much to say about the last two years of my life.”
However, Lively’s legal team says she won’t be the only one taking the stand.
“There are individuals that were witnesses to or experienced misconduct that is relevant to Ms. Lively’s claims,” Gottlieb explained.
“We expect their testimony, particularly about what took place on set, will come out through live witness testimony.”
