Marcus Thuram scores fastest-ever goal in UEFA Champions League semi-finals

    -

Marcus Thuram made UEFA Champions League history on Tuesday night by scoring the fastest goal ever in a semi-final after just 30 seconds.

The French forward finished a low cross from Denzel Dumfries with a remarkable back-heeled flick into the far corner, sending Inter fans into raptures and Barcelona into early disarray.

According to UEFA records, Thuram’s strike is now the fastest goal ever scored in a UEFA Champions League semi-final.

Prior to Marcus Thuram’s remarkable goal against Barcelona, the record for the fastest goal in a UEFA Champions League semi-final was held by Kevin De Bruyne.

On April 26, 2022, De Bruyne scored just 93 seconds into Manchester City’s first-leg match against Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium, heading in a cross from Riyad Mahrez.

This goal set the previous benchmark for the quickest strike in a UEFA Champions League semi-final.

Former Rangers striker Ally McCoist, speaking on TNT Sports, called the finish “magnificent,” highlighting the technical difficulty of Thuram’s half-volley redirect.
