Brigitte Gabriel just tossed some gasoline onto the political fire, tweeting out a message just on the edge of impartially describing journalist Jemele Hill and in turn accusing the left of race baiting. The conservative commentator didn’t mince her words when she bluntly stated, “Will the left ever stop race-baiting? @jemelehill represents everything wrong with the media today.” And I must say, the replies were hot.

Any newspaper is still dividing people into camps as some agree with Gabriel’s take, while some are clapping back hard at her. Notably, Playboy Shuttlesworth shot back with, “Address what’s said instead of saying catch phrases, ma’am. Stop deflecting.” Yikes! That definitely set the tone of things to go quite messy politically from that point onward.
Some replies decided to go personal quickly on this Twitter thread. RoC attacked Gabriel on her looks, stating, ‘I would have guessed you were 25 years older no matter what age you told me.’ Lettuce Rejoice followed with: “and if you take off your Klan hood, you’d be able to see the actual point she’s trying to make.” Double yikes. It’s the heatiness since the very first!
The back-and-forth was nothing but a way to reveal permutation patterns. Several comments echoed Gabriel’s main point, whereby Adam Absaroka said,” Race Baiting is their tactic for keeping the democrat base riled up.” But the script has since been flipped with other threads, with Kips_Big_Boy countering “Will the right ever stop being racist?”.

Some were pulling it back toward real conversations, with the most specific yet another trolling attempt meet ‘Name what precious artifacts from black history that they are removing. It’s a Fukien lie!’- from HULKRUIK SMASH. A clinical hit went out courtesy of Tyrone Dudley: ‘Race baiting only works if a racist bites… How’s that worm taste? Sorry about the hook.’
What was ugly; replies branched anew into unrelated personal attacks. The Reformed Smith Barney Broker was bold enough to tell someone: “You are a closeted homosexual & you hate it!”, but…what does that have to do with media bias exactly? And Solo_Jovo tried bringing a cooling balm to the conversation, commenting, “Y’all are both wrong… Y’all are so exhausting.” Preach.
This tweet, clearly, touched on some deep chords. There are hardly the ethics of journalism being discussed; there really are political grievances being unloaded that have weighed them down for years. Probably not just like the Israeli won’t stop calling the Palestinians animals, Karen Patriot 76 had the very sense to drag in the far-flung charges. And the conversation sprawled a good deal from its starting point.

For stirring the pot, make no mistake: It worked exactly per Gabriel’s intent. If she were to ask for her significance, the engagement speaks volumes, irrespective of whether one agrees or disagrees with her. Nowadays, takes like that are not only to start conversations, they can sometimes start a war. And judging from these replies, there seem to be no white flags to wave.
