    Budget 2025: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Proposes Creation Of Makhana Board in Bihar

    Makhana Board in Bihar: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2025, introducing key initiatives to support economic growth and inclusivity. One of the major announcements was the proposal to set up a Makhana Board in Bihar. This move aims to strengthen the makhana industry and support local farmers. Makhana, also known as foxnuts, is an important crop in Bihar, widely grown and consumed. The ‘One District One Product’ scheme has already helped makhana farmers, and the Makhana Research Center has been recognized as a national institution. Makhana has also received a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, boosting its market value.

    Highlighting the government’s commitment to inclusive development, Sitharaman said:

    “Our economy is the fastest-growing among all major global economies. Our development track record of the past 10 years and structural reforms have drawn global attention. Confidence in India’s capability and potential has only grown in this period. We see the next five years as a unique opportunity to realize ‘Sabka Vikas’, stimulating balanced growth of all regions,” she said in her address.
